Synthesia Acceptable Use Policy

This policy sets the rules for what Synthesia's Services can and cannot be used for. Key prohibitions include using the Services for personal or household purposes, building competing products, scraping content to train AI models, spreading misinformation, and using Stock Avatars in ads or political content without Synthesia's written permission. Synthesia can suspend or terminate your access if it believes you have deliberately or repeatedly violated these rules or created a credible risk of harm.

Synthesia's Acceptable Use Policy establishes the permitted and prohibited uses of its Services, with restrictions organized around content categories, competitive conduct, data extraction, and platform-specific avatar rules. The Policy categorically bars uses that exploit or harm minors, promote adult entertainment, further misinformation or disinformation, or impersonate persons or entities in a deceptive or misleading manner. Stock Avatar use is subject to additional written-consent requirements for high-reach contexts including TV programs, news broadcasts, political campaigns, and paid social media advertising. Synthesia reserves discretionary authority to suspend or terminate access upon its belief that a violation is deliberate, repeated, or presents an undue burden or credible risk of harm, while carving out clearly labeled internal training, testing, educational, or role-play uses where a reasonable viewer would understand the context.

Individual users are most directly affected by the restriction that the Services are for organizational or business use only, not personal, consumer, or household purposes. Users must also avoid using Stock Avatars in paid social media advertising, TV broadcasts, political campaigns, or current-events commentary without first obtaining written consent from Synthesia. If a user's content involving a Stock Avatar could reasonably make viewers believe the real-life actor personally endorses the stated opinions, that use is prohibited regardless of intent. Users who believe their use falls within internal training, testing, or educational purposes should ensure that use is clearly labeled so a reasonable viewer would understand the context.
