Why it matters (compliance & governance perspective)

The clause establishes a contractual limitation on derivative uses of the licensed materials, specifically restricting application of the technology toward AI model development. This affects the scope of permitted uses by carving out an entire category of technical applications that would otherwise fall within the licensee's rights to use the technology.

Consumer impact (what this means for users)

Users of Unreal Engine cannot incorporate the Licensed Technology, MetaHuman characters, or their outputs into generative AI training pipelines or model development workflows. Licensees who develop, enhance, or test AI systems using these materials would be operating outside the scope of permitted uses under the agreement.
