This policy explains what data Pinterest collects about you, including your activity on other websites and apps, and how it uses that data to show you targeted ads and suggest content. Pinterest shares some of your information with third-party ad platforms, and by using Pinterest you authorize your data to be stored and processed outside your home country. If you live in certain U.S. states, you can opt out of Pinterest using or sharing your data for targeted advertising by visiting your Privacy and Data Settings.
Pinterest's privacy policy establishes how Pinterest collects, uses, shares, and retains user information across its service. It permits Pinterest to receive data about users' offsite advertiser-site visits, purchases, and interests from third parties and to use that data for ad targeting, and to customize ads using both on-platform and off-platform activity combined with data from ad partners. Pinterest discloses identifiers including cookie IDs, IP addresses, and hashed email addresses to third parties such as Facebook Ads and Google Marketing Platform, who may combine that information with their own datasets. The policy authorizes cross-border transfer and storage of user data through use of the service itself, retains log data for 25 months, and uses user information—including historically posted content—to train and improve machine learning models. Users in certain U.S. states may opt out of targeted advertising, sharing, or selling through Privacy and Data Settings, and Pinterest will honor opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control for qualifying users in those states.
Pinterest uses your on-platform activity, offsite website visits, and data received from ad partners and third parties to customize the ads you see and content recommended to you. It shares identifiers such as your IP address, cookie IDs, and hashed email address with third parties like Facebook Ads and Google Marketing Platform, who may combine them with their own data about you. Pinterest also uses your information—including Pins posted at any time—to train its machine learning models, and retains log data for 25 months. If you reside in a qualifying U.S. state, you can take one concrete action: visit Privacy and Data Settings to opt out of Pinterest using or disclosing your information for targeted advertising, sharing, or selling purposes.
