If you decide to activate a Subscription Service, you authorize us to periodically charge, on a going-forward basis and until cancellation of either the recurring payments or your account, all accrued sums on or before the payment due date for the accrued sums. The subscription will continue unless and until you cancel your subscription, or we terminate it. You must cancel your Subscription Service before it renews in order to avoid billing of the next periodic subscription fee to your account. We may change the subscription fee for any subsequent subscription period but will provide you advance notice of any increase before it applies.

ConductAtlas Analysis

Institutional analysis (regulatory & governance intelligence)

1. REGULATORY LANDSCAPE: Automatic subscription renewal practices are regulated under the FTC's Negative Option Rule, which requires clear disclosure of recurring charge terms, simple cancellation mechanisms, and advance notice of material changes. California's Automatic Renewal Law imposes additional state-level requirements including affirmative consent and cancellation mechanism disclosures. Other states have enacted similar automatic renewal statutes. 2. GOVERNANCE EXPOSURE: Medium. The terms authorize advance notice of fee increases without specifying the notice period or format, which may warrant evaluation under applicable state automatic renewal laws that require specific notice timelines. The cancellation mechanism (account settings or email to consumercare@zillow.com) is stated but the terms do not specify a minimum notice period for fee change notifications. 3. JURISDICTION FLAGS: California's Automatic Renewal Law creates heightened compliance exposure, requiring that renewal terms and any fee changes be disclosed clearly and that cancellation be straightforward. Other states with automatic renewal statutes (including New York and Delaware) may impose similar requirements. Real estate professionals on subscription tiers operating across multiple states face multi-jurisdiction compliance considerations. 4. CONTRACT AND VENDOR IMPLICATIONS: Business users on subscription tiers should confirm that internal accounts payable processes track renewal dates and that cancellation workflows are documented, given that the agreement places cancellation responsibility on the user and does not state a minimum advance notice period for fee increases. 5. COMPLIANCE CONSIDERATIONS: The absence of a specified minimum notice period for subscription fee increases may warrant evaluation under FTC Negative Option Rule guidance and applicable state automatic renewal laws. Compliance teams advising subscription product teams should assess whether current notice practices meet regulatory minimums across operating jurisdictions.
