This page describes what the document states, permits, or reserves. It does not constitute a legal determination about enforceability. Regulatory applicability may vary by jurisdiction. Methodology
This is the general Terms of Use for Stash Financial, Inc., governing access to its investment, banking, and financial services platform for U.S. residents. The terms authorize Stash to terminate accounts, delete user data, and restrict platform access without prior notice, and establish that continued use of the platform after receiving notice of updated terms constitutes acceptance of those changes. Separately, any content voluntarily submitted to the platform grants Stash a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use, modify, distribute, and commercially exploit that content without payment to the submitter.
This document governs user access to and use of the Stash Financial, Inc. platform, including its website, mobile applications, and all associated financial services, establishing a legally binding agreement effective February 3, 2023. The agreement states that continued use of the platform following notification of amended terms constitutes acceptance; the terms authorize Stash to modify, restrict, or discontinue the platform or any service at any time without prior notice, and to terminate user accounts and delete associated data immediately upon Terms violations. The terms assert a broad, irrevocable, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide license over user-submitted content and an even broader license over voluntary submissions, including the right to derive commercial revenue without compensation to the submitter, which is operationally distinct from many consumer-facing financial platforms that do not typically solicit or license user-generated content for commercial purposes. The agreement engages the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 (explicitly carved out from liability disclaimers), federal securities regulations, and state consumer protection law under New York jurisdiction; applicable law, including state consumer protection statutes and FTC Act standards regarding unfair or deceptive practices, may constrain how certain broadly asserted terms apply in practice. Regulatory frameworks relevant to this document include SEC and FINRA oversight of investment advisory and brokerage functions, CFPB jurisdiction over consumer financial products, and federal and state electronic communications and privacy requirements, with enforcement context varying by the specific service type accessed through the platform.
