What it is

All legal disputes with Together AI must be resolved in California courts under California law, regardless of where you are located.

Consumer impact (what this means for users)

Users outside California who have legal disputes with Together AI are required to litigate in San Francisco courts, which creates a practical barrier to legal recourse through geographic and financial inconvenience.

Institutional analysis (Compliance & legal intelligence)

(1) REGULATORY FRAMEWORK: Mandatory California forum selection clauses may conflict with EU consumer protection law under Rome I Regulation (EC) No 593/2008 and Brussels I Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012, which provide EU consumers the right to sue in their home jurisdiction. UK consumers retain similar protections post-Brexit under domestic private international law. GDPR Art. 79 provides EU data subjects the right to lodge complaints and take judicial action in their home member state regardless of contractual forum selection. (2)
