COPPA Age Restriction

Medium severity
Share 𝕏 Share in Share 🔒 PDF

What it is

Children under 13 are not allowed to use Scale AI's services, and if Scale AI discovers it has collected data from a child under 13, it will delete it.

Consumer impact (what this means for users)

If a child under 13 uses Scale AI without parental knowledge, their personal data may be collected before Scale AI detects and deletes it — there is no described age-gate mechanism to prevent initial collection.

Why it matters (compliance & risk perspective)

COPPA compliance is a legal requirement, but the absence of a proactive age-verification mechanism means the protection depends entirely on parental awareness and Scale AI's after-the-fact remediation.
