Airbnb can suspend or permanently close your account, remove your listing, or block your access to the platform at any time and for almost any reason, with or without warning, and without owing you compensation for the disruption.
Consumer impact (what this means for users)
If Airbnb decides to suspend your account or remove your listing — even without giving you advance notice — you lose access to your bookings, your listing, and potentially pending payouts, with no guaranteed appeals process and no compensation for lost income. This risk is particularly acute for professional hosts who generate primary income through the platform.
What you can do
⚠️ These actions may provide transparency or partial mitigation but may not fully address the underlying issue. Effectiveness varies by jurisdiction and individual circumstances.
Close Your Account
If your account has been suspended and you believe this is in error, contact Airbnb Support through the Help Center at airbnb.com/help/contact-us. Request a formal review of the suspension decision and ask for a written statement of reasons. If you are an EU/EEA user, reference your rights under the EU Digital Services Act to receive a statement of reasons and access to an appeals process.
Cross-platform context

For hosts who depend on Airbnb for income, an unexpected account suspension or listing removal can result in immediate and significant financial loss with very limited recourse, as Airbnb is not obligated to provide advance notice or a cure period.
View original clause language
Airbnb may, in its reasonable discretion and without liability to you, decide to limit, suspend, or terminate your access to or use of the Airbnb Platform, and your ability to access your Member Content. Airbnb may also remove or disable any Content at any time, including Listings or Reviews, that Airbnb, in its sole discretion, considers to be in violation of applicable law, these Terms, or Airbnb's Policies. If we limit, suspend, or terminate your account or access to the Airbnb Platform, we may give you advance notice and an opportunity to cure your violation before we take this step, but we are not obligated to do so.
1) REGULATORY FRAMEWORK: This provision engages the EU Digital Services Act (DSA, Regulation 2022/2065, Art. 17) which requires very large online platforms (VLOPs) — a category Airbnb qualifies for — to provide a statement of reasons for content removal or account suspension, offer an internal complaint mechanism, and facilitate access to out-of-court dispute resolution. In the U.S., Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (47 U.S.C. § 230) provides broad immunity for platform moderation decisions. Consumer protection laws in multiple states may apply where suspension results in loss of confirmed bookings and prepaid guest funds.
