We may restrict, terminate, or temporarily suspend your access to the Services if you fail to comply with these Terms, our Community Guidelines or the law, for reasons outside of our control, or for any other reason. That means that we may terminate these Terms, stop providing you with all or any part of the Services, or impose new or additional limits on your ability to use our Services. For example, we may deactivate your account due to prolonged inactivity, and we may reclaim your username at any time for any reason. And while we'll try to give you reasonable notice beforehand, we can't guarantee that notice will be possible in all circumstances.

ConductAtlas Analysis

Institutional analysis (regulatory & governance intelligence)

REGULATORY LANDSCAPE: The broad termination authority asserted in this clause may engage applicable consumer protection statutes in states that require notice or cause for termination of consumer service accounts. The FTC has general authority over unfair or deceptive practices, which may be relevant if termination practices are applied in a manner inconsistent with disclosed procedures. The EU Digital Services Act imposes specific notice and appeal requirements for account restrictions applicable to Snap Group Limited users under the separate agreement. GOVERNANCE EXPOSURE: Medium. The termination-for-any-reason provision is common in platform terms of service, but the combination with no guaranteed notice and username reclamation creates operational risk for users and businesses that depend on a specific Snap presence or username for commercial purposes. JURISDICTION FLAGS: Jurisdictions with consumer protection statutes requiring cause or notice for service termination, including certain EU member states under the Digital Services Act (applicable to Snap Group Limited rather than this agreement), may limit the enforceability of the unconstrained termination right for users in those geographies. California residents may have additional protections under state consumer protection law. CONTRACT AND VENDOR IMPLICATIONS: Businesses that have established commercial relationships or advertising dependencies through Snap accounts should assess the operational risk of account termination without guaranteed notice. Contractual arrangements that depend on access to a specific Snap username or account should account for the username reclamation provision. COMPLIANCE CONSIDERATIONS: Organizations should document the appeal procedure for account terminations related to Community Guidelines violations, as described in the Snap Moderation, Enforcement and Appeals explainer referenced in the Terms. The six-month complaint submission window referenced in Section 7 should be tracked for any content or account decisions that may require challenge.
