What it is

Revolut can freeze or permanently close your account at any time for a wide range of reasons, including at their own discretion, with no advance notice required in many circumstances.

This analysis describes what Revolut's agreement states, permits, or reserves. It does not constitute a legal determination about enforceability. Regulatory applicability and practical outcomes may vary by jurisdiction, enforcement context, and individual circumstances. Read our methodology

ConductAtlas Analysis

Why it matters (compliance & governance perspective)

This clause establishes Revolut's operational authority to unilaterally modify service access based on compliance determinations, regulatory obligations, or fraud/illegality assessments, as well as discretionary termination authority. The provision's operational significance derives from the breadth of suspension triggers and the asymmetric control it allocates to the service provider over account continuity.

Recent Activity

This document changed recently

Medium Mar 23, 2026

The updated Terms of Service no longer document the Move Money Rules feature, which previously allowed users to set up automatic fund transfers across account pockets or currency exchanges based on custom conditions. The removal of this documentation means users cannot point to the terms as a reference for how this feature operates, what limits apply, or what fees may be charged. If the feature remains available in the app, its operational parameters are no longer formally described in the binding terms document.

ConductAtlas Analysis

Institutional analysis (regulatory & governance intelligence)

(1) REGULATORY FRAMEWORK: Account closure and suspension practices in prepaid accounts are regulated under Regulation E (12 CFR 1005.18) and the CFPB's Prepaid Accounts Rule. The EFTA requires issuers to provide error resolution rights and access to funds. Sudden account closures without adequate notice may also engage state unfair and deceptive acts and practices (UDAP) statutes. FinCEN SAR filing obligations (31 CFR §1020.320) may constrain the ability to notify users in AML-related closures. (2)
