ConductAtlas Analysis

Institutional analysis (regulatory & governance intelligence)

REGULATORY LANDSCAPE: This provision engages GDPR Article 28(3)(g), which requires processor agreements to address deletion or return of data upon termination, and equivalent US state law data retention and deletion requirements. The Irish DPC and applicable US state attorneys general are the relevant enforcement authorities. GOVERNANCE EXPOSURE: Low. The 30-day deletion obligation is consistent with standard DPA provisions and GDPR Article 28 requirements. The notification requirement for legal retention obligations provides additional transparency. JURISDICTION FLAGS: EU/EEA and UK customers should verify that the 30-day period and notification mechanism satisfy their specific retention and deletion obligations. US customers in regulated industries (healthcare, financial services) should assess whether sector-specific retention requirements affect the applicability of this provision. CONTRACT AND VENDOR IMPLICATIONS: Procurement teams should confirm that termination procedures include a formal trigger for the 30-day deletion clock and that Perplexity's subcontractors (including Model Providers and Amazon Web Services) are bound by equivalent deletion obligations under their sub-processor agreements. COMPLIANCE CONSIDERATIONS: Legal teams should document the service termination date to track the 30-day deletion obligation and request written confirmation of deletion or return from Perplexity upon completion. Where data return is preferred, teams should specify this in writing prior to or upon termination.
