The updated policy expands the location-based services Nintendo may provide using your location data to include event check-ins and visits to Nintendo locations, in addition to location-based games and friend connections. For parents of child users, the policy now explicitly discloses that Nintendo collects persistent identifiers such as IP addresses and device identifiers from child accounts for operational purposes including service functionality, security, fraud prevention, and contextual advertising, and states that contractual restrictions limit how service providers use this information. The policy also clarifies that personal information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary and is then deleted or de-identified based on data sensitivity, account activity, and features used. Parents can now view a named list of third-party games and applications authorized to access their child's account information and manage which apps continue to have access through their Nintendo Account profile settings.
