Document Record

What it is

From November 18, 2025, users may log in via an Indeed account. Legacy Glassdoor login remains available until April 20, 2026, after which full access may require a connected Indeed account. Once accounts are connected, the terms state they cannot be disconnected, and Profile data will be continuously synchronized between Glassdoor and Indeed until one account is deleted.

This analysis describes what Glassdoor's agreement states, permits, or reserves. It does not constitute a legal determination about enforceability. Regulatory applicability and practical outcomes may vary by jurisdiction, enforcement context, and individual circumstances. Read our methodology

ConductAtlas Analysis

Why it matters (compliance & governance perspective)

This provision establishes a mandatory, irrevocable account linkage mechanism between Glassdoor and Indeed with a deadline of April 20, 2026, and requires ongoing Profile data synchronization across both platforms under their respective Privacy Policies. The irrevocable nature of the connection and the continuous data synchronization create compliance considerations regarding whether users can exercise data subject rights, including deletion or restriction, with respect to one platform without affecting the other.

Interpretive note: The enforceability of the irrevocable account connection term may vary by jurisdiction, particularly in the EU and UK where data subject withdrawal rights may constrain the practical effect of this clause.

The updated terms identify Indeed, Inc. as the legal entity responsible for Glassdoor services, which affects where legal claims or notices must be directed. The terms now provide detailed procedures for copyright infringement claims under the DMCA, requiring claimants to submit specific information and contact an Indeed copyright department address. Users can opt out of the mandatory arbitration agreement by submitting a signed notice to the registered agent at the specified California address, though opting out does not affect other terms or previous arbitration agreements. The removal of the April 20, 2026 deadline for legacy login transition means that date-specific enforcement pressure has been eliminated, though the terms continue to authorize Indeed account login requirements.

Consumer impact (what this means for users)

The agreement states that once a user connects their Glassdoor account to an Indeed account, the connection cannot be severed, and a complete copy of Profile data will be held and processed by both Glassdoor and Indeed independently under their respective Privacy Policies. Users who do not connect before April 20, 2026, may lose full access to Glassdoor services as described in the terms.

What you can do

⚠️ These actions may provide transparency or partial mitigation but may not fully address the underlying issue. Effectiveness varies by jurisdiction and individual circumstances.
  • Close Your Account
If you do not wish to connect your Glassdoor account to an Indeed account, the terms indicate the alternative is account deletion. Access account settings and locate the account deletion option to remove your Glassdoor account before the April 20, 2026 migration deadline.

ConductAtlas Analysis

Institutional analysis (regulatory & governance intelligence)

(1) REGULATORY LANDSCAPE: This provision implicates GDPR Articles 6, 7, and 17, specifically regarding lawful basis for processing, consent requirements for the irrevocable linkage, and the right to erasure where data is held in synchronization across two independently operating controllers. The provision also engages CCPA rights regarding deletion of personal information. The FTC has general jurisdiction over data practices and unfair or deceptive acts. The assertion that accounts cannot be disconnected may require evaluation under GDPR Article 7(3), which establishes that withdrawal of consent must be as easy as giving it. (2) GOVERNANCE EXPOSURE: High. The irrevocable account linkage combined with continuous Profile data synchronization across two distinct platforms creates a compound compliance obligation. Where a user seeks to delete data from one platform, the synchronization mechanism may complicate full erasure across both entities. The question of whether Glassdoor and Indeed operate as joint controllers or independent controllers with respect to synchronized Profile data has direct implications for GDPR Chapter IV compliance and data subject request handling. (3) JURISDICTION FLAGS: EEA and UK residents face heightened exposure given GDPR and UK GDPR requirements on consent specificity, withdrawal rights, and data subject access. California residents may have CCPA deletion right implications. The irrevocable connection term may face enforceability scrutiny in jurisdictions where consumer protection statutes require meaningful withdrawal mechanisms for ongoing data processing consents. (4) CONTRACT AND VENDOR IMPLICATIONS: Organizations whose employees use Glassdoor should be aware that employee Profile data may be synchronized to Indeed and processed under Indeed's separately applicable Privacy Policy. Procurement or HR compliance teams should evaluate whether this arrangement creates any obligations under applicable employment data protection laws, particularly in the EU where employee data processing requires a specific lawful basis. (5) COMPLIANCE CONSIDERATIONS: Legal and compliance teams should evaluate whether the consent mechanism presented at account connection satisfies GDPR Article 7 specificity requirements, whether a data sharing or joint controller agreement between Glassdoor and Indeed has been documented in a manner accessible to data subjects, whether data subject request procedures are coordinated across both platforms, and whether the irrevocable connection language is consistent with applicable withdrawal-of-consent frameworks in relevant jurisdictions.
