What it is

The agreement establishes that W&B retains full ownership of its platform, AI features, and any improvements or derivatives, and that any feedback provided by Customer may be used by W&B without restriction or compensation.

This analysis describes what Weights & Biases's agreement states, permits, or reserves. It does not constitute a legal determination about enforceability. Regulatory applicability and practical outcomes may vary by jurisdiction, enforcement context, and individual circumstances. Read our methodology

ConductAtlas Analysis

Why it matters (compliance & governance perspective)

The Feedback provision establishes an unrestricted, royalty-free license for W&B to use any customer-provided suggestions or recommendations regarding the platform, including for product development, without any obligation to the Customer providing the feedback.

Recent Activity

This document changed recently

Medium Jun 30, 2026

The updated agreement no longer includes language stating that a previously executed written agreement between Customer and W&B would govern and supersede the master service agreement. This removal eliminates explicit recognition of contractual hierarchy that may have applied to customers with signed agreements predating the master terms. The practical effect depends on whether such customers have separate agreements in place and how contract interpretation and applicable law would treat the relationship between a posted master agreement and a signed customer agreement absent explicit supersession language.

The updated Terms of Service no longer include the previous statement that services would become inaccessible from certain locations starting September 1st, 2025. This removal means the geographic restriction that was previously announced in the agreement is no longer formally stated in the current terms. Users who were affected by or concerned about the prior restriction should review current documentation to confirm whether any geographic limitations remain in effect.

As between the parties, W&B owns and retains all right, title and interest in and to the W&B Assets, the AI Features, and any developments, improvements, and derivatives in the foregoing. Except for the limited rights granted to Customer in Sections 2(a) and 2(b), W&B does not by means of this Agreement or otherwise transfer any other rights to Customer. If Customer provides any comments, suggestions or recommendations to W&B with respect to the W&B Assets ("Feedback"), W&B may use such Feedback without any restriction or obligation.

ConductAtlas Analysis

Institutional analysis (regulatory & governance intelligence)

1) REGULATORY LANDSCAPE: Unrestricted feedback licenses are common in SaaS agreements and generally do not implicate specific regulatory frameworks, though they may interact with employee intellectual property assignment provisions in certain jurisdictions. 2) GOVERNANCE EXPOSURE: Low. The feedback license is standard in SaaS agreements and applies to voluntary comments and suggestions rather than Customer Data. The provision does not assert ownership over Customer Data or outputs. 3) JURISDICTION FLAGS: In some jurisdictions, employee intellectual property rights may intersect with feedback license terms if employees provide feedback in the course of their employment. Legal review of applicable employment law may be warranted in EU jurisdictions with specific IP assignment rules. 4) CONTRACT AND VENDOR IMPLICATIONS: Customers providing detailed technical feedback, feature requests, or architectural suggestions should be aware that such feedback may be used in W&B product development without restriction. Organizations with sensitive proprietary ML methodologies should assess whether feedback channels could expose confidential information. 5) COMPLIANCE CONSIDERATIONS: Organizations should establish internal guidelines for what categories of information employees may submit as feedback to W&B, particularly where feedback might incorporate proprietary methodologies or confidential business information.
