Why it matters

This is a strong consumer protection commitment that goes beyond what many financial services companies offer, reducing the risk of your data being monetized by third parties.

Consumer impact

Wealthfront collects extensive personal and financial data including Social Security numbers, biometric selfies, bank credentials, and investment information, sharing it with multiple third-party service providers for account aggregation, identity verification, and fraud detection. Full clients (those with investment or lending accounts) cannot request deletion of their personal data due to regulatory recordkeeping obligations, significantly limiting their data rights compared to free users. You can request deletion of your data by emailing support@wealthfront.com if you are a User (not a Client) and can opt out of marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in any communication.

Applicable agencies

  • FTC
FTC enforces against unfair or deceptive practices; a violation of this stated pledge would constitute a deceptive practice under Section 5 of the FTC Act.
