TaskRabbit Terms of Service

This is Taskrabbit's global terms of service — the legal contract you agree to when using the platform to hire someone for tasks like furniture assembly, cleaning, or handyman work, or to work as a Tasker. The most important thing to know is that if you're a US or Canadian user, you give up your right to sue Taskrabbit in court and must instead resolve disputes through individual binding arbitration — and you have a limited window to opt out of this requirement after creating your account. If you are a Tasker, you are solely responsible for your own taxes, insurance, licenses, and worker classification — Taskrabbit accepts no liability for these obligations.

These Taskrabbit Global Terms of Service (last updated February 21, 2024) constitute a legally binding agreement governing use of Taskrabbit's multi-country online marketplace platform connecting Clients and Taskers across websites and mobile applications in the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. The most significant obligations include: Users must maintain all communications and payments exclusively on-platform; Taskers bear full responsibility for taxes, insurance, licenses, and worker classification; and Clients bear sole responsibility for vetting Tasker qualifications despite Taskrabbit's credentialing language. Notable deviations from industry standard include an unusually broad disclaimer of all platform liability for Tasker conduct, credentials, and background check accuracy, combined with a mandatory binding arbitration clause with class action waiver applicable to US and Canadian users (Section 24), and a non-refundable fee policy covering all platform charges by default. The Agreement engages GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA (California), PIPEDA (Canada), FTC Act Section 5, and applicable employment classification laws across multiple jurisdictions; the explicit denial of employer status and the independent contractor classification of Taskers creates significant worker misclassification exposure under AB5 (California), UK employment tribunal standards, and EU Platform Work Directive considerations. Material compliance considerations include cross-border data transfer mechanisms under GDPR Chapter V, the adequacy of arbitration opt-out notice for consumer-facing mandatory arbitration, and the adequacy of background check disclosures under the FCRA.
