This analysis describes what Robinhood's agreement states, permits, or reserves. It does not constitute a legal determination about enforceability. Regulatory applicability and practical outcomes may vary by jurisdiction, enforcement context, and individual circumstances. Read our methodology
If your account is closed or restricted, you may be unable to trade during volatile market periods or at times when you need access to your funds, and Robinhood has broad discretion to make this decision.
Interpretive note: The scope of sole discretion account restriction authority may be constrained by FINRA fair dealing rules and state consumer protection laws, and enforceability may depend on the circumstances of any specific restriction.
The agreement requires customers to resolve disputes through FINRA arbitration on an individual basis, waiving the right to participate in class action lawsuits and jury trials. For margin account holders, the agreement authorizes Robinhood to sell securities in the account without prior notice to cover margin deficiencies, and to lend securities held in margin accounts to third parties. You can opt out of the mandatory arbitration and class action waiver by sending written notice to Robinhood within thirty days of opening your account, as described in the arbitration section of the agreement.
