What it is

Creating or uploading a job seeker profile or resume authorizes Indeed to make it available to employers and Smart Sourcing subscribers. If the profile is set to 'Searchable,' Indeed may share job seeker activity signals (views, clicks, saves, started applications) with employers as interest indicators.

This analysis describes what Indeed's agreement states, permits, or reserves. It does not constitute a legal determination about enforceability. Regulatory applicability and practical outcomes may vary by jurisdiction, enforcement context, and individual circumstances. Read our methodology

Why it matters (compliance & governance perspective)

This provision establishes that job seeker behavioral activity on the platform, including content viewed and applications started, may be disclosed to employers as interest indicators when a profile is set to 'Searchable.' Job seekers can limit this by setting their profile to 'Not Searchable,' though prior applications and employer contacts are not affected by this change.

The updated terms state that Indeed may automatically draft job application content based on job seeker profile information and preferences. The drafted content may be AI-generated and subject to Indeed's AI-Generated Content Terms in Section D.9 of the General Terms. The agreement continues to establish that job seekers remain responsible for reviewing, correcting, editing, or deleting any drafted applications or application content before submission. You should review any AI-drafted content carefully to ensure it accurately reflects your qualifications and preferences before adopting and submitting applications.

The updated terms establish new explicit tax obligations for users. Indeed now states it will calculate and bill applicable taxes based on user location or linked employer location, and users are responsible for any applicable taxes, duties, or levies. Additionally, the terms now state that reducing or canceling sponsored ad budgets will result in loss of access to premium features exclusive to higher budget plans. Previously, the agreement described auto-apply activity as a pricing factor; this reference has been removed from the pricing methodology section.

Under these terms, job seekers with 'Searchable' profiles authorize Indeed to share their platform activity, including job ad views, clicks, and started applications, with employers as interest signals. Setting a profile to 'Not Searchable' limits new employer visibility but does not affect prior applications or existing employer contacts.

By creating or adding information to a profile through the Site, creating an Indeed Resume, using a resume builder feature on your profile, or uploading a file resume on the Site (collectively, 'Profile,' 'Your Profile' or 'Job Seeker Profile' or 'Indeed Profile'), you authorize Indeed to make it available to potential Employers and users of Indeed's Smart Sourcing or other Resume Search program. If you set your Profile to Searchable, Indeed may inform Employers that you have viewed, clicked, saved, liked, or started to apply for their job to indicate your potential interest.
