Plaid's Terms of Use govern how Plaid collects, uses, and shares your financial data when you connect your accounts through apps that use Plaid. By providing your login credentials, you authorize Plaid to access and transmit data on your behalf, and Plaid may share that data with the developer of the app you are using and with your connected financial institutions. Plaid can suspend or end your access at any time without notice or reason, and its total financial liability to you is capped at the greater of what you paid or $100.
Plaid's Terms of Use establish the substantive rights, obligations, and limitations governing end users' and developers' use of the Plaid Platform. The document grants Plaid agency-like authority to access and transmit data from users' financial institutions when users provide login credentials, and defines the data Plaid collects—including sensitive financial identifiers such as account numbers, routing numbers, IBAN, and BIC. Plaid imposes categorical prohibitions on the sale of Personal Information from IDV Services to third parties and on the use of identity document images, photographs, videos, or derived facial geometry scans to improve or develop its services. Plaid's liability is disclaimed on an 'as is' and 'as available' basis and capped at the greater of amounts paid or $100, and Plaid retains unilateral discretion to terminate or suspend any user's access at any time, with or without notice or reason. Developers are independently bound by restrictions on selling or renting End User Data and by ongoing export and sanctions compliance obligations, with enforcement remedies including suspension or termination of service and data access upon any Policy violation.
When you connect your financial accounts through a Plaid-powered app, you grant Plaid authority to access and transmit your financial data—including account numbers, routing numbers, balance information, and other sensitive identifiers—to and from your financial institution. Plaid will never sell your Personal Information from identity verification services to third parties, and neither Plaid nor its service providers will use your identity document images, photos, videos, or facial geometry scans to improve their services. Your access to the Platform can be suspended or terminated by Plaid at any time without notice, and Plaid's total liability to you is capped at the greater of what you paid or $100. When a developer removes your connection from their app, Plaid's systems are designed to automatically delete your personal data, though certain exceptions may permit Plaid to retain it; you can act on this by managing or removing your connections through the developer's app.
