What it is

When you use Luma's paid service, everything you upload is licensed to Luma permanently for AI model training and product development, and this license cannot be revoked even if you cancel or delete your account.

This analysis describes what Luma AI's agreement states, permits, or reserves. It does not constitute a legal determination about enforceability. Regulatory applicability and practical outcomes may vary by jurisdiction, enforcement context, and individual circumstances. Read our methodology

ConductAtlas Analysis

Why it matters (compliance & governance perspective)

The irrevocable and perpetual nature of this license establishes that Luma retains ongoing rights to inputs even after subscription termination, provided those inputs are reflected in derivative works, aggregated data, or model improvements. This structure allocates long-term intellectual property interests in materials derived from user inputs to Luma.

Consumer impact (what this means for users)

Your uploaded photos, videos, and prompts can be used by Luma to train AI models permanently, even after you delete your account — this applies to all paid subscribers and the license is explicitly irrevocable.

What you can do

⚠️ These actions may provide transparency or partial mitigation but may not fully address the underlying issue. Effectiveness varies by jurisdiction and individual circumstances.
  • Delete Your Data
Email support@lumalabs.ai requesting account and data deletion. Note that licenses already incorporated into Luma's systems or models prior to deletion will remain valid and irrevocable.

ConductAtlas Analysis

Institutional analysis (Compliance & governance intelligence)

(1) REGULATORY FRAMEWORK: This provision implicates GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) (consent as lawful basis), Art. 7 (conditions for consent, including the right to withdraw), and Art. 17 (right to erasure) — the irrevocability of the license creates structural conflict with the GDPR right to withdraw consent and the right to erasure. Under CCPA §1798.105, consumers have the right to request deletion of personal information, which this clause partially overrides. The FTC Act Section 5 may be engaged if the irrevocability is not clearly disclosed to consumers at point of upload. Enforcement authorities: EU data protection authorities (lead DPA depends on Luma's EU establishment), California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA), FTC. (2)
