Model Training Opt-Out

Medium severity
Share 𝕏 Share in Share 🔒 PDF

What it is

Cursor will not use your code or outputs to train AI models unless you specifically agree to it. You can control this preference within the app.

Consumer impact (what this means for users)

Your code inputs and AI-generated suggestions will not be used for model training by default — this protects your intellectual property and confidential code from being incorporated into Anysphere's or third-party AI training datasets unless you actively opt in.

What you can do

⚠️ These actions may provide transparency or partial mitigation but may not fully address the underlying issue. Effectiveness varies by jurisdiction and individual circumstances.
  • Opt Out of Arbitration
Log into your Cursor account, navigate to account or privacy settings, and locate the preference for use of Inputs and Suggestions for model training. Confirm that this is set to opted-out. Document the date and setting for your records.
