Your Claude Pro subscription automatically renews and your card is charged each period until you cancel — and you must cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date or you will be charged for the next full period with no refund.
Consumer impact (what this means for users)
If you miss the 24-hour cancellation window before your Claude Pro renewal date, you will be automatically charged for another full subscription period and Anthropic will not refund you, even if you cancel immediately after being charged.

Cancel Subscription
Within 24 hours

Cross-platform context
See how other platforms handle Subscription Auto-Renewal and No-Refund Policy and similar clauses.
The 24-hour cancellation deadline and no-refund policy means even a one-day delay in cancelling can result in being charged for an entire additional subscription period with no ability to recover those funds.
View original clause language
If you sign up for a paid Subscription, we or the App Distributor will automatically charge your Payment Method on each agreed-upon periodic renewal date until you cancel. Your Subscription will last for the Initial Term and will automatically renew, and your Payment Method will be charged, at the end of the Initial Term for an additional term equal in duration to the Initial Term and will continue to renew and incur charges for additional terms equal in duration to the Initial Term (each such additional term, a "Renewal Term") until you cancel. To avoid renewal and charges for the next Renewal Term, cancel your subscription at least 24 hours before the last day of the Initial Term or any Renewal Term. In the event of a cancellation, your fees will not be refunded, but your access to the Services will continue through the end of the Initial Term or any Renewal Term for which you previously paid fees.
(1) REGULATORY FRAMEWORK: Auto-renewal provisions are governed by state automatic renewal laws, most notably California's Automatic Renewal Law (ARL, Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code §17600 et seq.) which requires clear disclosure of auto-renewal terms, affirmative consent, and easy cancellation mechanisms. Similar laws apply in New York (NY GBL §527-a), Illinois (815 ILCS 601), and Delaware. The FTC's Negative Option Rule (16 CFR Part 425), updated in 2024, imposes additional disclosure, consent, and simple cancellation requirements for subscription services. The FTC Act Section 5 applies to deceptive subscription practices generally.
