Why it matters (compliance & governance perspective)

This provision establishes a defined account deletion timeline with a 30-day restoration period and up to one additional week for deletion processing, and discloses that third-party platforms may independently retain copies of public community content. For financial services users, retention of records beyond the platform deletion process may also be subject to SEC and FINRA recordkeeping requirements applicable to the affiliated broker-dealer.

You can permanently delete your Webull account. When your account has been deactivated, information relating to your account, including your name, username, and public profile, is no longer viewable on our Services, including the Webull app. For up to 30 days after deactivation it is still possible to restore your account if it was accidentally or wrongfully deactivated. Absent a separate arrangement between you and us to extend your deactivation period, after 30 days, we will begin the process of deleting your account from our systems, which can take up to a week. Keep in mind that search engines and other third-parties may still retain copies of your public information, such as any posts and comments you made in the Webull Community, even after you have deleted the information from the Services or deactivated your account.

ConductAtlas Analysis

Institutional analysis (regulatory & governance intelligence)

1. REGULATORY LANDSCAPE: Broker-dealer recordkeeping obligations under SEC Rule 17a-4 and FINRA Rule 4511 require retention of certain records for specified periods regardless of account closure, which may limit the scope of data actually deleted following an account deletion request. This provision should be read in conjunction with the policy's general retention statement, which authorizes retention as long as necessary to meet legal and regulatory obligations. 2. GOVERNANCE EXPOSURE: Low. The 30-day restoration window and one-week deletion processing timeline are operationally standard. The third-party retention disclosure is a standard limitation acknowledgment. The primary governance consideration is ensuring that data actually deleted at the platform level does not conflict with regulatory recordkeeping mandates applicable to the affiliated financial services entities. 3. JURISDICTION FLAGS: California and EEA users have deletion rights under CCPA and GDPR respectively, and the 30-day plus one-week deletion timeline should be assessed against applicable response time requirements. GDPR generally requires erasure without undue delay. 4. CONTRACT AND VENDOR IMPLICATIONS: Legal teams should confirm that the deletion process described in this provision applies consistently across all affiliate entities and service providers that hold user data, and that regulatory recordkeeping requirements are operationally reconciled with the deletion workflow. 5. COMPLIANCE CONSIDERATIONS: Compliance teams should document which categories of data are subject to regulatory retention obligations and therefore exempt from full deletion upon account closure, and ensure that users who submit deletion requests receive accurate information about what data will and will not be deleted.
