What it is

Following API service termination, Creators have a 30-day window to request a CSV export of their data. After that window closes, Teachable states it may delete all associated data from its systems unless legally prohibited from doing so.

This analysis describes what Teachable's agreement states, permits, or reserves. It does not constitute a legal determination about enforceability. Regulatory applicability and practical outcomes may vary by jurisdiction, enforcement context, and individual circumstances. Read our methodology

ConductAtlas Analysis

Why it matters (compliance & governance perspective)

This provision establishes a strict 30-day post-termination deadline for data retrieval requests, after which Teachable may delete all API-associated data. Creators who do not submit a retrieval request within this window have no stated contractual right to recover that data.

Consumer impact (what this means for users)

Under this clause, API users who terminate their use of Teachable APIs must submit a data export request within 30 days of termination to receive a CSV of their data. The agreement states Teachable may delete all associated data after that 30-day period without further obligation.

What you can do

⚠️ These actions may provide transparency or partial mitigation but may not fully address the underlying issue. Effectiveness varies by jurisdiction and individual circumstances.

Within 30 days of API service termination, submit a data export request through the Teachable platform to receive a CSV file of your API-associated data. The agreement states that requests made after the 30-day window will not be fulfilled.

ConductAtlas Analysis

Institutional analysis (regulatory & governance intelligence)

(1) REGULATORY LANDSCAPE: The 30-day data return window and post-window deletion authority may engage GDPR data portability rights under Article 20 for EU-based users, as the right to data portability is not contractually waivable. CCPA data portability rights under Section 1798.100 are similarly relevant for California users. The document qualifies deletion as permissible 'unless legally prohibited,' acknowledging regulatory constraints. (2) GOVERNANCE EXPOSURE: Medium. The 30-day window creates a time-sensitive operational obligation for Creator businesses transitioning away from Teachable APIs. Failure to submit a timely request results in potential permanent data loss with no stated recovery mechanism. (3) JURISDICTION FLAGS: EU and EEA users retain GDPR Article 20 data portability rights independent of this contractual window; the 'unless legally prohibited' qualifier indicates Teachable acknowledges this constraint. California users retain CCPA data request rights. (4) CONTRACT AND VENDOR IMPLICATIONS: Organizations integrating Teachable APIs should establish offboarding procedures that include a 30-day data retrieval trigger upon any API termination event. Vendor contracts should confirm Teachable's deletion procedures and timelines. (5) COMPLIANCE CONSIDERATIONS: Legal teams should assess whether the 30-day window and CSV-only format satisfy data portability obligations under GDPR and CCPA for relevant user populations.
