Class Action Waiver

High severity
Share 𝕏 Share in Share

Why it matters

Class actions allow many consumers harmed in the same way to pool resources and sue together, which is often the only practical way to hold large companies accountable for widespread small-value harms. This waiver eliminates that option.

Consumer impact

Redfin's Terms of Use significantly limit your legal options: by using the platform, you agree to resolve any disputes through binding private arbitration rather than in court, and you permanently waive your right to participate in class action lawsuits against Redfin. You also assign full ownership of any feedback you submit — including improvement suggestions — to Redfin, and grant Redfin a broad royalty-free license to use, distribute, and promote any other content you upload. You can opt out of the mandatory arbitration clause by sending a written notice to Redfin within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.

What you can do

⚠️ These actions may provide transparency or partial mitigation but may not fully address the underlying issue. Effectiveness varies by jurisdiction and individual circumstances.
  • Opt Out of Arbitration
    Within 30 days
Opting out of arbitration also removes the class action waiver. Send written notice within 30 days of accepting the Terms, clearly stating you are opting out of both the arbitration clause and class action waiver per Section 2.13.9.

Applicable agencies
