This provision establishes geographic access restrictions consistent with US sanctions regimes administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC); users or API Providers with operations or customers in the listed territories are prohibited from using or providing APIs through the RapidAPI platform.
The updated terms establish a new GenAI Features category available through the Service and specify the operational and liability framework governing their use. GenAI Features are provided on an 'as is, as available' basis with no warranties regarding accuracy, reliability, or fitness for any purpose. Under the revised terms, users assume sole responsibility for evaluating and verifying any outputs generated by GenAI Features before taking action based on them. Where chatbot functionality is included, the terms specify that chatbot responses are informational only, may be inaccurate or incomplete, and users must not submit personal data to chatbots. RapidAPI disclaims all liability for losses arising from reliance on GenAI or chatbot outputs.

(1) REGULATORY LANDSCAPE: The listed geographic restrictions correspond to countries and regions subject to US economic sanctions administered by OFAC under the Treasury Department. Compliance with these restrictions is legally required under US export control and sanctions law for US-operated platforms. API Providers or Consumers with multinational operations should assess whether their use of the platform creates sanctions compliance exposure. (2) GOVERNANCE EXPOSURE: Medium. For multinational API Providers who distribute APIs to global customers, the geographic restrictions may affect existing commercial relationships with customers in sanctioned regions. Failure to comply with these restrictions could create regulatory exposure under US sanctions law independent of these Terms. (3) JURISDICTION FLAGS: US sanctions law applies to US persons and US-operated platforms globally. Non-US API Providers using the platform should assess whether their activities in connection with the listed regions would create secondary sanctions exposure. (4) CONTRACT AND VENDOR IMPLICATIONS: Enterprise API Providers should ensure their compliance programs account for the geographic restrictions in these Terms and verify that API access is not being granted to customers in sanctioned regions through the RapidAPI marketplace. (5) COMPLIANCE CONSIDERATIONS: API Providers should assess their existing customer base and API access controls to ensure no active API subscriptions are held by users in the listed sanctioned regions. OFAC screening procedures may be warranted for API Providers with global customer bases.
