For questions about this Privacy Statement, our use of your personal information, or how to exercise your privacy rights, please contact our Data Protection Officer/Privacy Office at privacy@netflix.com.
Why it matters
These rights — required under GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws — give you meaningful control over your data, but only if you know about them and how to exercise them.
Consumer impact
Netflix collects a wide range of personal data including viewing history, device identifiers, payment information, and behavioral data inferred from your activity on third-party websites and apps, particularly for users on the ad-supported plan. Users have rights to access, correct, delete, and export their data, and can control certain advertising preferences, but the policy's vague retention language and broad third-party data sharing create residual privacy risk. You can manage your advertising and data preferences by visiting your Netflix account settings at netflix.com and navigating to 'Privacy and Data Settings'.
What you can do
⚠️ These actions may provide transparency or partial mitigation but may not fully address the underlying issue. Effectiveness varies by jurisdiction and individual circumstances.
Export Your Data
Log in to Netflix, go to Account > Security and Privacy > Download your personal information, and submit a request. Netflix will compile your data and notify you when it is ready to download.
Delete Your Data
Email privacy@netflix.com with your account details and a request to delete your personal information. Specify which data categories or request full deletion. Netflix must respond within 45 days (CCPA) or one month (GDPR).
Applicable agencies
FTC
The FTC enforces consumer privacy rights and has authority over deceptive or unfair practices related to failure to honor stated data rights commitments.
State attorneys general in California and other states with comprehensive privacy laws can enforce data subject rights violations under CCPA/CPRA and equivalent state statutes.
