This analysis describes what Meta's agreement states, permits, or reserves. It does not constitute a legal determination about enforceability. Regulatory applicability and practical outcomes may vary by jurisdiction, enforcement context, and individual circumstances. Read our methodology
The updated terms establish that Meta will provide at least 30 days' notice before changes to the Terms take effect, giving users time to review modifications before they apply. For consumers outside the US, disputes with Meta will now be resolved in courts of the consumer's home country under that country's laws, rather than exclusively in California courts. US consumers and disputes Meta initiates against users remain subject to California jurisdiction and law. The terms also clarify that Meta may only modify the agreement if provisions are no longer appropriate, incomplete, or required for safety, security, or legal compliance, and only if changes are reasonable and account for user interests.
