Gemini API Terms of Service

These terms are for developers building with Google's Gemini API — not for general consumers. If you use the free tier, Google may use your prompts and the responses to improve its own products; the paid tier does not carry that data use. You are personally responsible for everything the service does when you use it, and you cannot use it in medical, safety-critical, or competitive contexts.

The Gemini API Terms of Service establishes the conditions under which developers may access Google AI Studio and the Gemini API, restricting use to professional or business purposes by individuals 18 or older. The document distinguishes sharply between Paid and Unpaid Services: content submitted to Unpaid Services may be used by Google to improve its products and machine learning technologies, while Paid Services carry a data-use carve-out. Acceptable-use provisions prohibit clinical or medical-device-regulated deployments, safety-critical applications of Robotics Models, competitive model development, and any attempt to reverse engineer or replicate service components. The developer bears sole responsibility for all actions and tasks performed by the service, and the Robotics Models carry no guarantee or warranty of any kind regarding hardware-specific performance or safety.

Individual users are not the intended audience for this document: it governs developers, not consumers, and use is restricted to professional or business purposes. If you are a developer using the free (Unpaid) tier, Google uses your submitted content and generated responses to improve its products and machine learning technologies; switching to Paid Services removes that data use. You should not submit sensitive, confidential, or personal information through Unpaid Services, as no data protection assurance applies there. You must be at least 18 years old to use the APIs under any tier.
