This page describes what the document states, permits, or reserves. It does not constitute a legal determination about enforceability. Regulatory applicability may vary by jurisdiction. Methodology
This document sets out Garmin's terms for using its wearable devices and the data they produce. The most important thing to understand is that Garmin's health tracking features — including heart rate, blood oxygen, and skin temperature — are not medical tools: the data is an estimation and is not meant to diagnose or treat any health condition. Garmin recommends talking to a doctor before starting any exercise program.
Garmin's Terms of Use establish a comprehensive set of accuracy and medical-purpose disclaimers covering wearable device data, including heart rate monitoring, Pulse Ox (SpO2%), skin temperature, and general activity metrics. Garmin categorically disclaims that its wearables are not medical devices and that none of the data they produce is intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. All wearable outputs are characterized as close estimations that may not be precisely accurate, with specific acknowledgment that inherent technology limitations, physical user characteristics, device fit, motion, and environmental conditions may cause readings to be inaccurate. Garmin further recommends that users consult a physician before beginning any exercise routine, positioning medical clearance responsibility with the user.
As an individual user, you should know that all health and activity data from Garmin wearables — including heart rate readings, Pulse Ox (SpO2%) estimates, and skin temperature changes — are characterized as estimations and are not intended for medical use. Garmin explicitly states its devices are not medical devices and that readings may be inaccurate due to factors including your skin tone, device fit, movement, sleep position, and ambient light. Because Garmin recommends consulting a doctor before engaging in any exercise routine, one concrete action available to you is to seek medical advice before relying on Garmin data to guide a new exercise program.
