We perform penetration testing through a combination of our in-house offensive security team, qualified third-party penetration testers and a year-round public bug bounty program. We conduct penetration tests on major releases, new services and security-sensitive features. We typically perform 8-10 external third-party penetration tests and 15-20 internal penetration tests per year, and all material findings must be addressed before a test can be marked as passed. As part of our commitment to transparency, we publicly share our platform-wide third-party test report in our due diligence package.

ConductAtlas Analysis

Institutional analysis (regulatory & governance intelligence)

(1) REGULATORY LANDSCAPE: Penetration testing and independent security assessment requirements are addressed under SOC 2 Type II audit criteria, PCI-DSS Requirement 11, FedRAMP continuous monitoring requirements, and ISO 27001 controls. The mandatory resolution of material findings before test completion aligns with these frameworks' remediation requirements. (2) GOVERNANCE EXPOSURE: Low. The disclosed cadence of 8-10 external and 15-20 internal tests per year with mandatory material finding remediation represents a specific, verifiable security assurance mechanism. Customers can request the third-party report to independently evaluate test scope, findings, and remediation status. (3) JURISDICTION FLAGS: FedRAMP-authorized environments are subject to specific independent assessment requirements that may overlap with or supplement the disclosed penetration testing program. EU customers under DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act) in financial services may have additional requirements for threat-led penetration testing from their cloud service providers. (4) CONTRACT AND VENDOR IMPLICATIONS: Enterprise customers conducting vendor due diligence should formally request the due diligence package including the third-party penetration test report, and confirm the scope of systems and environments covered. Procurement teams should verify whether customer-specific environments or dedicated instances are included in the scope of disclosed tests or require separate assessment. (5) COMPLIANCE CONSIDERATIONS: Security teams should review the scope and methodology of the third-party penetration test report to confirm coverage of the Databricks components relevant to their deployment, and document receipt of the report as part of annual vendor security review records.
