This page describes what the document states, permits, or reserves. It does not constitute a legal determination about enforceability. Regulatory applicability may vary by jurisdiction. Methodology
This is Bluesky's Terms of Service, the legal agreement that governs how you can use the Bluesky social network, what rights Bluesky has over your posts, and how disputes are resolved. The single most important thing to know is that by using Bluesky, you agree that most legal disputes must go through private arbitration rather than a court, and you give up the right to join a class action lawsuit against Bluesky in most cases. If you want to preserve the ability to pursue legal action, you should carefully read the arbitration opt-out provisions described in Section 13 of the terms.
This document governs use of the Bluesky social networking application and website, operated by Bluesky Social, PBC, under a framework that incorporates Community Guidelines, a Privacy Policy, and a Copyright Policy, with Delaware law as the governing jurisdiction and the Federal Arbitration Act controlling dispute resolution. The agreement states that users grant Bluesky a worldwide, royalty-free license to reproduce, modify, adapt, distribute, and publicly display their content, and the terms authorize Bluesky to suspend or terminate accounts without prior notice where violations, legal requirements, or perceived risk to the platform or users are found. Notable provisions include a mandatory arbitration clause with class action waiver, a $100 monetary cap on Bluesky's total cumulative liability for most claims, and a content deletion caveat acknowledging that complete removal across the AT Protocol network may not always be achievable due to decentralization. The agreement expressly references compliance with the EU Digital Services Act (DSA), including Article 21 out-of-court dispute settlement procedures for EU/EEA users, and the minimum age eligibility of 13 years engages COPPA considerations for US operators; FTC consumer protection frameworks are also relevant given the indemnification, warranty disclaimer, and data use provisions.
