This page describes what the document states, permits, or reserves. It does not constitute a legal determination about enforceability. Regulatory applicability may vary by jurisdiction. Methodology
This policy explains how Anthropic collects and uses your information, including using your conversations to train its AI by default unless you opt out in your account settings. Anthropic transfers your data to servers in the US and other countries, and is not responsible for how third-party services handle your data. If you want to limit how your data is used, you can opt out of AI training through your account settings and opt out of targeted advertising using global privacy controls.
This document establishes Anthropic's data collection, use, sharing, and retention practices for its Services. Anthropic collects personal data including facial geometry templates that may constitute biometric data in certain jurisdictions, and may by default use users' Inputs and Outputs to train and improve its AI models, subject to an opt-out mechanism in account settings — though that opt-out does not apply when conversations are flagged for safety review or explicitly reported by the user. Anthropic transfers personal data to servers in the US and other countries outside the EEA and UK, does not sell personal data as defined by applicable law, and offers users an opt-out from targeted advertising data sharing along with a commitment to honor global privacy controls. The document expressly excludes children under 18 from its Services and disclaims responsibility for the data practices of Third-Party Services.
Anthropic's default practice is to use your conversations to train its AI models; you can limit this by opting out through your account settings, though that opt-out does not apply if your conversations are flagged for safety review or if you have explicitly reported them to Anthropic. Anthropic collects facial geometry templates, which carry heightened protections as biometric data in some jurisdictions. When you delete a conversation it disappears from your history immediately but remains on Anthropic's back-end systems for up to 30 days. Anthropic will honor global privacy controls for targeted advertising opt-outs. Depending on the permissions you grant Claude, its outputs can take real-world actions — sending messages, modifying files, or interacting with third-party services — and Anthropic bears no responsibility for how those third-party services handle your data.
