219If you have a query about your trip, we may contact the trip provider to handle

228For fraud detection and prevention purposes, we may also exchange information ab

229Connectivity providers
230Many trip providers contract with specific third-party companies (often referred

231Connectivity providers act on behalf of trip providers (rather than Booking.com)

232Third-party service providers
233We use service providers to support us in providing our trip services. The servi

235Industry/market research
236Fraud detection and prevention (including anti-fraud screening)
237Insurance coverage claims handling
238Payment processing
239We use third parties to electronically process payments, handle chargebacks, or

240When a chargeback is requested for your trip reservation, either by you or by th

241We may also share information with relevant financial institutions, if we consid

 >the fraudulent use of a stolen credit card.
242Marketing services
243We may share some of your personal data (such as identifiers) with advertising p

244We use techniques such as hashing specific personal data (e.g. email address, te

 >Such techniques limit what the receiving third-party company can do with the per

245When sharing audience insights with advertising partners and other third parties

246As part of the account verification process, we may share some of your account d

 >you are a real person and not a bot. This process is automated, and the data is
 >not retained beyond what is necessary for verification.
247Other professional third parties
248In some cases (e.g. disputes, legal claims, or as part of auditing activities),
 >we may need to share your personal data with representatives of professional ser

249Competent authorities
250We follow specific protocols when law enforcement agencies and other government

457A web browser cookie is a small text file placed by a website in the data that a
 > web browser automatically stores on your computer or mobile device. It enables
 >software to store information about the content you view and interact with, for
 >example, to:
458Remember your preferences, settings, and reservations you may not have completed
459Analyze how you use our services
460We also use other types of cookies. For example, our websites, email messages, a
 >nd mobile apps may contain small transparent image files or lines of code that r
 >ecord how you interact with them.
461What are cookies used for?
462Cookies we use can be divided into three purpose categories: functional, analyti
 >cal, and marketing cookies.
463Functional cookiesWe use functional cookies to enable our websites and mobile ap

464Analytical cookiesWe and our partners use analytical cookies to gain information
 > on your website and mobile app usage, which is then used to understand how visi
 >tors like you use our platform and to improve the performance of our website and
 > services.
465Marketing cookiesWe and our partners use marketing cookies, including social med
 >ia cookies, to collect information about your browsing behavior that helps us an
 >d our partners decide which products to show you on and off our websites and mob
 >ile apps, and to display and send personalized content and advertisements on our
 > platform, other websites, and using push messages and email. The personalized c
 >ontent is based on your browsing activities and the services you have booked. Th
 >ese cookies also allow you to share or like pages on social media.
466We work with selected third-party companies to collect and process data. We may
 >sometimes share information (such as your email address or phone number) with so
 >me of these third parties so that they can link that information to other data t
 >hey collect separately (and typically independently from Booking.com). This help
 >s us to engage with specific audiences or deliver targeted ads.
467What are your choices?
468Where required, we offer you the option to decline analytical and marketing cook

470How we use artificial intelligence and make automated decisions
471We are always looking for opportunities to innovate and improve the customer exp
 >erience by using new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) systems.
 >We use AI throughout our platform, including in the following ways:
472Promotion of a safe and trustworthy service and prevention of fraudOur AI system
 >s use machine learning to quickly and accurately monitor our platform for fraud,
 > complaints, and misconduct by travelers or trip providers, surpassing manual re
 >view for speed and accuracy. The AI scans transactions and user-submitted conten
 >t (e.g. images) for risk. High-risk items are flagged for human review and may b
 >e hidden or removed.
473Showing you the most relevant contentWe use AI systems to improve and personaliz
 >e your experience on our platform. We use AI to predict the optimal/most relevan
 >t category of products or services for you and to bring the best options to your
 > attention. This may include showing you details of a trip we think would intere
 >st you, displaying tailored complementary trip offerings on our platform, and ra
 >nking search results to put the best matches to the top of your feed.
474Our How we work pages contain more information on our recommendation systems and
 > personalization.
475AI Memory: Remembering your key details to personalize your experienceWe offer p
 >ersonalization by remembering key details of your interactions with our platform
 > and preferences using generative AI in AI Memories. This enables us to tailor y
 >our user experience across our platform, making it more personalized and relevan
 >t to you. We store the AI Memories which are generated by a third-party AI model
 >. AI Memories can include preferences like your travel style, budget, or specifi
 >c needs. For instance, if you mention, “Remember that I always need a hotel with
 > a gym,” AI Memories can remember this preference for future searches and recomm
 >endations so you don't have to repeat yourself.
476You remain in full control. Through your privacy settings, you can view, manage,
 > and delete your AI Memories, and you can also withdraw your consent for this fe
 >ature at any time.
477AI interactive chatsWe use AI to develop and offer interactive chats which allow
 > you to ask questions about a trip or service and receive AI-generated responses
 > or suggestions. The interactive chats may use any data you share with it, inclu
 >ding personal data, as well as your search and booking history on our platform t
 >o make recommendations to you.
478Summarizing customer service interactionsWe may use AI to transcribe and summari
 >ze your interactions with our customer service agents. This helps us improve the
 > efficiency and speed of our customer services to help you with queries about yo
 >ur booking and our services. Any personal data you share with us when interactin
 >g with our customer service agents, including your booking details, may be inclu
 >ded in the AI summary.
479Intelligent Voice AssistanceDepending on your location, when you call us, we may
 > use AI to offer you an option called Intelligent Voice Assistance to help with
 >your query. This service allows you to ask questions about your booking to an AI
 >-powered agent. The Intelligent Voice Assistance can provide relevant responses
 >and help you with certain actions relating to your booking. The Intelligent Voic
 >e Assistance will use any data you share with it, including personal data, and y
 >our booking details.
480Improving our servicesWe use AI to help run and improve our travel services, inc
 >luding:Understanding our users: Spotting trends and learning what users think.
481Running the platform: Keeping our site and apps smooth and checking content.

483Efficiency: Making our services faster and more efficient.
484For more details, see the section on Purposes of collecting and processing your
 >personal data.
485We may use your personal data to develop, train, and fine-tune AI systems which
 >are used in the following ways:To power tools like generative AI models that let
 > you ask questions in natural language and from which you receive relevant answe

486To improve our platform effectiveness and trustworthiness by training AI systems
 > to maintain the integrity of our services.
487To enhance data protection by improving our AI systems' ability to detect and re

488Our use of AI closely follows data protection laws. We assess our AI systems aga

 > the safeguards we have implemented, which apply to personal data we process to

494We do not currently use solely automated systems, including those using AI, to m
 >ake a decision about you which would result in a legal or similarly significant
 >effect on you.
495Sometimes automated decisions are made without human review, but only after we h

496In the cases which may have a significant effect on you, for example, monitoring
