Protocol Non-Control Disclaimer

High severity
Share 𝕏 Share in Share

Why it matters

If you lose money due to a bug, exploit, or failure in the underlying Uniswap Protocol smart contracts, Uniswap Labs claims it bears no legal responsibility since it does not control the protocol.

Consumer impact

Uniswap's terms significantly limit consumer rights by requiring mandatory binding arbitration and waiving the ability to participate in class action lawsuits, which removes important legal recourse for disputes. The agreement also grants Uniswap Labs a broad, perpetual, royalty-free license to use any content users post on the platform. You can opt out of the arbitration provision by sending a written notice to Uniswap Labs within 30 days of first using the Products, as specified in the arbitration section of the Agreement.

Applicable agencies

  • SEC
The SEC has authority over securities offerings and trading platforms; the protocol disclaimer is directly relevant to potential securities law exposure for Uniswap Labs.
