Data Subject Rights and Privacy Request Process

Medium severity
Share 𝕏 Share in Share

What it is

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. You can submit requests to exercise these rights through our privacy portal at privacy.uber.com.

Why it matters

Exercising your data rights is one of the most important tools you have to understand and control what Uber knows about you, but the effectiveness of these rights depends on Uber responding correctly and within required legal timeframes.

Consumer impact

Uber collects extensive personal data from drivers and delivery people, including real-time location data continuously while the app is active, telematics data measuring driving behavior, government-issued ID and background check information, and potentially audio and video recordings from in-cabin devices. This data is shared with insurance companies, background check providers, law enforcement on request, and third-party business partners, and can influence a driver's ability to remain on the platform. You can access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data by submitting a request through Uber's privacy portal at privacy.uber.com.

What you can do

⚠️ These actions may provide transparency or partial mitigation but may not fully address the underlying issue. Effectiveness varies by jurisdiction and individual circumstances.
  • Export Your Data
Go to privacy.uber.com, log in with your Uber account credentials, and select the type of request (access, correction, or deletion). Complete and submit the online form.
  • Delete Your Data
Visit privacy.uber.com, log in, and submit a deletion request specifying the categories of data you want removed. Uber must respond within 45 days under CCPA or 30 days under GDPR.

Applicable agencies

  • FTC
The FTC enforces against companies that fail to honor stated privacy rights commitments under FTC Act Section 5, including failures to process data deletion requests.
    File a complaint →
  • State AG
State attorneys general in California, Virginia, Colorado, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have authority to enforce data subject rights requirements against companies that fail to respond to valid requests.
