Mandatory Individual Binding Arbitration

High severity
Share 𝕏 Share in Share

Why it matters

Arbitration eliminates your right to a jury trial and class action participation, which are the most powerful tools consumers have against large companies; individual arbitration is costly and rarely pursued, effectively limiting corporate accountability.

Consumer impact

Hulu subscribers are locked into automatic recurring billing with no refunds for unused subscription periods, meaning cancelling even one day late results in a full additional charge. The Agreement also waives your right to join a class action lawsuit against Hulu, forcing any dispute into individual binding arbitration which statistically favors large corporations. You can cancel your Hulu subscription at www.hulu.com/account by clicking 'Cancel' before 11:59 PM ET on the day before your next billing date.

What you can do

⚠️ These actions may provide transparency or partial mitigation but may not fully address the underlying issue. Effectiveness varies by jurisdiction and individual circumstances.
  • Opt Out of Arbitration
    Within 30 days
To opt out of mandatory arbitration, you must send written notice to Hulu within 30 days of first agreeing to this Agreement. Review Section 7 of the Agreement for the current opt-out address and required notice content. Send via certified mail to create a record of delivery.
