Class Action Waiver

High severity
Share 𝕏 Share in Share

Why it matters

Class actions are the primary mechanism by which consumers collectively hold large corporations accountable for widespread but individually small harms such as overbilling or deceptive advertising; waiving this right effectively makes it economically irrational to pursue many legitimate claims.

Consumer impact

Hulu subscribers are locked into automatic recurring billing with no refunds for unused subscription periods, meaning cancelling even one day late results in a full additional charge. The Agreement also waives your right to join a class action lawsuit against Hulu, forcing any dispute into individual binding arbitration which statistically favors large corporations. You can cancel your Hulu subscription at www.hulu.com/account by clicking 'Cancel' before 11:59 PM ET on the day before your next billing date.

Applicable agencies

  • State AG
